Provenance: Ifugao

“To know thyself is the beginning of all wisdom – Aristotle”
For my fashion inspiration, I want to look back to my past, my lineage. Rich in culture with beautiful people. Ifugaos are people and part of the country I once lived. Ifugaos have festivities. It usually happens every year in honour of their gods. They celebrate by dancing, some rituals and by their own strong produced alcohol – ‘rice wine’. I like to celebrate their culture by using their prints and their weaving process. I do think that I have to celebrate my own ancestry by designing garments taken from them. At the same time, I don’t want to be looking very tribal. I want to re-interpret them for a modern woman.
